Instrumentation1994. 9 accelerometers, on 2 levels in the building. 3 accelerometers at a reference free-field site.
 
Vertical Load Carrying System1/2" plywood on wood joists (2x6 and 2x12) and truss joists (TJL) at 24" o.c. supported on bearing walls (2x6 studs at 16" o.c.).
Lateral Force Resisting SystemPlywood sheathed shear walls in both directions. Shear walls are made of 2x6 studs at 16" o.c. sheathed with 1/2" plywood on one side. Roof diaphragms consist of 1/2" plywood sheating nailed to joists.
Foundation TypeConcrete grade beams under all shear walls. 5" concrete slab on grade.
Remarks1) The building was designed as per Titles 17, 19, and 24 of the State of California Administrative Code. 2) It was instrumented as part of the OSHPD/CSMIP Hospital Instrumentation Project.
