Vertical Load Carrying SystemAbove ground: floors, made of 2.5" concrete slab on 3" steel deck with welded studs, supported by steel frames. Below ground: concrete floors supported by concrete columns and walls.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemEccentrically braced steel frames, EBF, (8 in each direction) at the east and west cores. The EBF's transfer the loads to concrete shear walls below the Plaza level.
Foundation TypeConcrete spread footings under interior columns; 6'4" thick mat foundation under east and west cores.
RemarksThe building was designed in accordance with the 1976 UBC and the ATC 3-06 provisions. The building is described in the 1984 SEAOC convention proceedings.
