Vertical Load Carrying System | Concrete fill over metal decks supported by steel beams and columns. The first floor framing is comprised of concrete pan joists and floor slabs supported by concrete beams and columns. |
Lateral Force Resisting System | Special concentrically braced steel frames in both directions. Steel braced frames are located at the perimeter and interior at each above-grade level. Special reinforced concrete shear walls resist lateral forces at the basement. |
Foundation Type | Concrete pile caps with steel rod pile anchors at shear walls and spread footings at interior columns. The soil beneath the building was improved using Cement Deep Soil Mixing (CDSM) columns. |
Remarks | This building was designed in accordance with the 2007 California Building Code. The hospital consists of 3 different structures separated by seismic joints.
