Instrumentation2016, 15 accelerometers on 4 levels of the structure and 9 downhole accelerometers at three depths beneath the structure, plus a geotechnical array of 6 accelerometers near the structure.

Vertical Load Carrying SystemConcrete fill over metal decks supported by steel beams and columns. The first floor framing is comprised of concrete pan joists and floor slabs supported by concrete beams and columns.
Lateral Force Resisting SystemSpecial concentrically braced steel frames in both directions. Steel braced frames are located at the perimeter and interior at each above-grade level. Special reinforced concrete shear walls resist lateral forces at the basement.
Foundation TypeConcrete pile caps with steel rod pile anchors at shear walls and spread footings at interior columns. The soil beneath the building was improved using Cement Deep Soil Mixing (CDSM) columns.
RemarksThis building was designed in accordance with the 2007 California Building Code. The hospital consists of 3 different structures separated by seismic joints. Only the west structure is instrumented. Funding for instrumentation was provided by the owner as required by OSHPD. CSMIP provided assistance in instrumentation.
